Holidays and Hearing Loss
Holidays can be a stressful and even isolating time for someone with hearing loss. Not being able to understand family and friends, repeatedly asking “huh” or “what”, or mis-hearing and responding incorrectly are all things that someone who has a hearing loss can experience. It is undoubtedly frustrating for the person themselves, but it can also be just as taxing on others as well.
What does all of this add up to? Stressed relationships, arguments, isolation, and a whole host of life impacting problems. It is something many deal with and the effects of hearing loss really show when the person suffering from the hearing loss is in the company of others. We see it everyday and while the effects can present itself differently depending on the individual, the solution is nearly always the same.
Properly fitted hearing aids allow our brains to receive the appropriate sound. When our brain (we hear with our brain) receives the proper sound, we are able to understand what is being said, hear the environment around us, and interact with others in the most natural way possible. Holidays, and everyday life become more enjoyable and less stressful. Stress from crazed holiday shoppers, however, is something we cannot help you with!
